Celebrating Pi Day! :-)
Unfortunately, I don't have lyrics for this BEAUTIFUL art project:
This kid kept going!
Fun song by Jonathan Mann
Pi day
getting down on pi day
everybody getting all euclidian up in here
pi day
dance and stuff on pi day
ratio circumfrence diameter
Do like circles? I like circles!
And you know once a year
We can celebrate a circle's circumference ratio to diameter
March 14th
March 14th
this is the nerdiest of days
I will celebrate and dance a jig
In the nerdiest of ways
3 1 4 1 5
getting down on pi day
everybody getting all euclidian up in here
pi day
dance and stuff on pi day
ratio circumfrence diameter
Do like circles? I like circles!
And you know once a year
We can celebrate a circle's circumference ratio to diameter
March 14th
March 14th
this is the nerdiest of days
I will celebrate and dance a jig
In the nerdiest of ways
3 1 4 1 5
Pi day
getting down on pi day
everybody getting all euclidian up in here
pi day
dance and stuff on pi day
ratio circumfrence diameter
circle here and circle there
i can find the circumference
and if i
didn't have pi
i wouldn't stand a chance
March 14th
March 14th
Let's say a joyful prayer
See a circle be a circle
You don't wanna be a square
getting down on pi day
everybody getting all euclidian up in here
pi day
dance and stuff on pi day
ratio circumfrence diameter
circle here and circle there
i can find the circumference
and if i
didn't have pi
i wouldn't stand a chance
March 14th
March 14th
Let's say a joyful prayer
See a circle be a circle
You don't wanna be a square

VIDEO: Understanding a TV Weather Forecast
Questions:
What are high and low pressure systems? And what kinds of weather do they bring?
What's an "isobar" and what do they mark?
How do the isobars show how windy it will be?
What's a front and how are they marked on a weather map? How are cold and warm fronts differentiated?

What will our fieldtrip be like?
Check out the "History is Fun" website, the official website of Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center. I specifically recommend the following:
The Jamestown Chronicles
Quadricentennial Minutes
Passionality Profiles
Anna's Adventures
From Matchlock to Flintlock
HOMEWORK:
- Watch at least 2 short videos for the links above. Then write for at least 10 minutes in your School Journal about what you're looking forward to and what you expect to see and do on our fieldtrip.
- Revisit the Jamestown/Yorktown Guidelines and make sure you understand and remember it all! Also, you can print out a new copy of the get-ready checklist if you need one.
- Watch at least 1 Jamestown "Digital Story," a video made up of still images and narration, so that you have some idea of the project you'll be starting next week. You'll find the VA Studies> VA: Jamestown> Jamestown Fieldtrip Digital Stories.

Why is it colder at the tops of mountains if those mountain tops are closer to the sun?

VIDEO: Where does a new day start?
As we approach World Education Days next week, we're asking ourselves, if World Math Day doesn't start until the 6th, then how come I can start competing here on the 5th? It all has to do with the spinning of the Earth! Check out this animation which helps to explain.

Questions:
Is the International Date Line straight?
Where does a new day begin in the world? In which city, country, continent?
Where does a day end?
